Department Purpose

Directly responsible to the CAAs and Maximus for ensuring that all operations activities can be carried out in accordance with Civil Aviation regulations and approved operations manuals and SOP’s of Maximus Air.

Job Purpose

To assist the Senior Flight Dispatcher to ensure all Maximus flights are planned and conducted in a safe and economical manner in accordance with GCAA and Maximus regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Correspond with different civil aviation departments, handling agents, and fuel companies..

To assist the senior flight dispatcher in the preparation of the flight briefing documentation

To monitor Maximus aircraft while in-flight and maintain a weather safety security watch within the dispatch area of operations

Conduct all the co-ordination with loading teams, transportation of crew, RAMP co-ordination with Flight Coordinator required for successful operation of flights.

Attend to all incoming calls to Operations Control Area, referring those unable to be addressed.  

Post flight documentation and archiving

CONTEXT

 
  • Job role is based in Maximus head office.
  • Work within the Operations Control Centre.
 

PLANNING AND ORGANISING

 
  • Computer flight planning usage 
  • Plan for and anticipate substantial change to flight conditions and notify others of those changes.
  • Preliminary and advance planning for Commercial and Flight Operations as required.
 

DECISION MAKING  

 
  • Critical - Recommend preferred routes based on Flight planning system documents and previous flight reports.
  • Critical - Plan and recommend diversions based on weather forecasts or technical information.
 

INTERACTIONS (internal and external)

 
  • Frequent interaction with Supervisor Flight Dispatcher on a regular basis.
  • Frequent interaction with crew regarding fuel, hotel or handling agent as required.
  • Co-ordination with Flight Managers.
  • Co-ordination with base operations in Abu Dhabi Airport regarding setting up, loading time, crew pickup, cargo escorts and reporting times.
 

PROBLEM SOLVING

 
  • Problem solve on issues relating to transportation, correction on flight levels, flight plans and last minute changes. 
 

ACCOUNTABILITY

 
  • Validity of all flight dispatch documents relative day to day operations.

Key Challenges

  • Time limitations. 
  • More organised/systematic way of dealing with information.
  • Standardisation of information and outputs, implementing and recommending changes to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Experience, Qualifications, Skills and Technical Knowledge

  • Valid flight dispatch licence.
  • Aviation training.

Technical Knowledge

  • Knowledge of at least one reliable flight dispatch system
  • Good knowledge of flight planning and Navigation.
  • Knowledge of the performance of at least one aircraft from the fleet.
  • Knowledge of Civil Aviation publications.

Experience

  • 3 years in ad-hoc operations or in scheduled flight operations.
  • 5-7 years in similar role.
