MAXIMUS’ NON-PROFIT SUPPORT TO UAE’S RED CRESCENT BOOSTS REGIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL RELIEF EFFORTS
Maximus Air Cargo and UAE’s Red Crescent sign exclusive partnership
Abu Dhabi, UAE – XX January 2008 – Maximus Air Cargo, the Abu-Dhabi based specialist ‘heavy-lifter’ of the airfreight world, today announced the expansion of its logistical, non-profit,support for the United Arab Emirates’ Red Crescent. The partnership was officially sealed through an agreement, appointing Maximus as the exclusive partner of UAE’s leading charity.
The UAE Red Crescent is one of the Emirates’ most highly respected charity organisations, providing humanitarian aid to countries across the globe. In order to enhance its relief efforts the UAE Red Crescent and Maximus Air Cargo have agreed to expand their current partnership to cover all relief air transport services requirements, both regionally and internationally. The cooperation will ensure efficient, cost effective and high impact air transportation relief, thus improving the welfare services provided to people in need across the world.
“We are committed to provide the UAE’s Red Crescent with the most efficient service by using our strong expertise in the industry. With the consensus of not earning any profit, we guarantee that the Red Crescent will benefit from the most cost-effective air transportation available in the market” said Fathi Hilal Buhazza, President and CEO of Maximus Air Cargo. “As a business, we are proud to offer our unprecedented support to such a reputable and dedicated organisation and we will continue to contribute our services for such causes”, added Buhazza.
The UAE Red Crescent selected Maximus Air Cargo as their official partner due to their impressive fleet of aircraft including two, specially-upgraded, Lockheed L382G’s. With over 2,000km normal range with full payload, the Hercules is renowned for its ability to carry up to twenty tonnes of humanitarian cargo goods, such as food, water and medical supplies to and from short runways, even without minimal ground support equipment. This L382G’s capability of aerial dropping dramatically shortens the lead-time needed for the deployment of relief goods, therefore contributing to saving lives more effectively.
“Maximus Air Cargo’s fleet comprises the ideal aircrafts to deal with our challenging requests. Their upgraded Hercules L382G has already proven to be indispensable for most of our operations since it is designed to drop goods from the air and to land in areas which are otherwise not accessible. Thus, we are able to aid any region in need on the globe” said Dr.Saleh Mohammed Al Mullah, Deputy Secretary General of the UAE Red Crescent Authority. He also added that “Maximus’ devotion to our organisation is vital for us in order to continue our humanitarian support for people in need around the world.”
Past cooperation between Maximus and UAE’s Red Crescent included humanitarian support for the Darfur region in Sudan as well as disaster relief for Lebanon after the 2006 war, for Pakistan after the recent earthquake, and South East Asia after the tsunami.
